Originally a BBC radio engineer, I have worked as a full time location sound recordist/mixer since 1996. The work has brought me the opportunity to travel and meet a huge variety of people but most importantly it suits my combination of technical and social skills.

My experience is largely on factual/documentary projects but I also regularly work on commercials and drama. I’m very comfortable in a small crew shooting actuality or on larger scripted set ups and I’ve worked in a range of genres over the years (as you can see from the clips I’ve selected). There is a more complete list of credits on my IMDB page.

I’ve been fortunate to have been involved with some award winning projects - I won a BAFTA for Best Factual Sound in 2003 for Operatunity and was the sound recordist for The Lady in No 6 which won the Oscar for Short Documentary in 2014. More recently I worked on Watch The Sound with Mark Ronson which was nominated for Outstanding Sound in the Documentary Emmy Awards.

Over the years the industry and the way we work has has changed a great deal but the principles are the same. My job is not just to deliver the best possible sound but ultimately to work to achieve the best outcome for the production - in other words to collaborate. Technical skills are a must but my social skills have been my greatest advantage.

I am based in South London, have a UK passport and driving licence and own a full range of sound equipment.

If you think I can help with your production please do get in touch.
